Maybe it is time to get in shape. Some people like to jog, others take aerobic classes and some like to join a gym. But there is something to be said about staying at home, and using your own exercise equipment. No need to brave the elements or drive to the gym, just turn on some music and hop on your own personal machine. The problem is though, many people aren’t sure what to buy. Treadmills offer a great way to get a good workout and an excellent way to get started. They are easy to store, and most people use them consistently. No need to go out in the heat, or extremely cold weather, to take a walk or a fast jog. They are great to have at home and popular with the whole family. Finding the best one can be confusing because several of them offer similar features. Two of the most popular models are the Bowflex 7 and the Sole F8O. Here's what I did. It is sort of the whole picture. i had to set realistic goals for myself. I used to set unrealistic goals and then when I didn't meet them I'd get frustrated and stop trying.
First goal was to lose weight and I am quite happy with only loosing 2 pounds a month as long as I am having progress I am ok.
The exercise I do now is I swim at least 3 times a week. I am up...festyle change. i'm not doing this to loose weight I'm doing it because it feels good now and I like what I feel like after I exercise. Loosing weight is a side benefit. when I focused on the weight loss I failed continually. If I don't want to be fat and yo yo all the time I have to have a lifestyle change that becomes part of me just like the lifestyle change I had when I began gaining weight.

That sells fitness equip. to high end public gyms and home gyms. I asked him almost the same question when I was just starting out.
I said 'What is the best piece of equip. on the market that will help me at home or should I join a gym and just use their stuff?'
He said, 'The best piece of equipment is the one that you will USE. If you buy a bowflex or gazelle but don't use it there is no point. If you join a gym but never go then you are just throwing your money away. Think about who you are and be honest with yourself about it.'
So I got my treadmill, a yoga mat, and some weights, and it's been working out great!

Our home gym is in our basement. We have a what I think you're talking about for the standard weight exercises, a treadmill, and an elliptical. Been thinking about getting a rowing machine, but haven't yet. We also have a TV with VHS/DVD and mats down for stretching (and some lifting).
I don't know if you know what you're doing with weights, but you might want to get a book to help you get...'re working all of the major muscle groups. I know I've mentioned it on here before, but my favorite is "Getting Stronger" by Bill Pearl, which was the textbook for the weightlifting class I took in college. We had considered getting a Bowflex, but decided that I'd try sticking to a routine in there for a few months to see if I got the benefit I wanted without crowding our space more, and I did.

I've tried crash diets, I've tried reading labels for hours, it's only resulted in small short-term losses and hours wasted in the store. Let me tell you right now, I'm a very, very heavy-set person, I'm currently 430 pounds.
I've lost some before now from weightlifting, but before that I seemed to equalize around 450 or so. I've gained a good amount of strength, and that may be offsetting...d be able to continue it after I reach my goal. Money is a short term object, as I'm currently unemployed, but I hope to fix that shortly. Budget would be, 20 dollars a day?
Just a rudimentary shopping list, I'm horrible at shopping for myself, which probably got me here in the first place.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to those that took the time to read this.
