... "why a treadmill?" Seems a rower might be better suited to microgravity. Other than the noise. Maybe magnetic resistance rather than air, but still.
So Nasa uses Bowflex? Any better shots of the space gym?
I find a couple of reports of a Swiss system utilizing inertial (flywheel) resistance:
- Discusses loss - 15% of muscle mass, 25% of strength in 6 months. Discusses "aRED...ment.
And our "gear" spammers may want to take note: Asked whether astronauts could use chemicals to enhance their physiques, Trappe said the chances were slim: in addition to individual differences in pharmacological response, drugs may work differently in space than on Earth.
"There’s no doping in space," he said.
. Pic actually looks like a rowing machine.

I have a small home gym, treadmill and a bowflex (which my SO uses more them me cause I'm a spaz and just can't seem to operate the equipment correctly)
Generally I work out 4 to 5 times a week for about an hour, incorporating sets of squats, lunges, legs lifts, crunches for 30 minutes then I walk/run on my treadmill for 30 to 45 minutes. This has been my routine for a while and I'm wondering if anyone out there can recommend other exercises I can do with hand weights or resistance belts so I can spruce up my routine a bit. Or any sites I can visit to get some ideas?

And now there is a little room for exercise equipment. I wanted a treadmill, but now I don't really need it since I have been running outside. My boyfriend said he'd like to get a Bowflex. I've seen those on T.V., the Bowflex or Norditrak, stuff like that. With our limited space, does anyone have any advice on which exercise machine is best?

I live in temecula, CA off of Winchester and Nicholas by LA fitness. However I don't have a gym membership with them I use a bowflex, which is better than most gym equipment that I've used. I also have a Body opponent bag and treadmill. If you're interested let me know, I'm dedicated but it's always nice to bounce ideas off of another person. Thanks and take care!

Thanks for the info... After reviewing and selecting the Bowflex Series 7 treadmill I further looked into "home gyms" and the in CR and couldnt find anything.. I get CR every month..
I tested out the bowflex gym stuff with rods and didnt like the way it felt, didnt feel even enough with the right and left rods moving unevenly.. Since we all have one arm weaker than the other I felt as if I would always be fighting the equipment to be "even" and couldnt concentrate on resistance and form but on not being "wobbly"..
