Treadclimber?

2006-07-26 15:41:45 by CyclePsycho

Seen the adverts for the Bowflex one, I think it's a gimmick, the ad says "burn calories at twice the rate of a treadmill AT THE SAME SPEED", but the problem is you can't run on one of these doohickeys, on a treadmill if you want to up the burn rate, you just speed it up.
I'm also less than convinced of that claim, it seems to me that a treadmill at a steep incline would be just as effective (maybe not QUITE as effective since it lacks the up and down motion) but far more versatile since you can lower the incline and actually run.

That's my problem...

I use my treadclimber both for the treadmill and the elliptical about 3 days a week but I'm not getting enough of an upper body workout. (The treadclimber works well when the weather isn't so great for walking or hiking here in Oregon...)
I used to have the Bowflex with the weight attachments but it seemed to work better as a clothes hanger :)
Now my brother-in-law has it, uses it regularly, and I'm looking at joining a gym for the pilates, yoga, jazzercise and swimming :)

  • Avatar Sophronia I use a bowflex and treadmill every day, Is my exercise routine good?
Sep 13, 2011 by Sophronia | Posted in Diet & Fitness

I jog/run for 30 minutes every day and then i use my bowflex for 30-40 minutes also everyday and work all my muscle groups, do i have to alternate my work outs? or take a rest day to see better results, please help

    • You shouldnt work any muscle group every day. Muscles need rest and time to heal. Work the muscle group and give it at least 2-3 days rest..........>

  • Avatar Mary Does the bowflex home gym really give you good results? Looking for opinions?
Feb 24, 2011 by Mary | Posted in Diet & Fitness

I live in an area that doesn't have a gym, so I was looking to purchase some home gym equipment and was wondering how well the blowflex home gym really works. I want to get toned and taunt. Currently, I use a Denise Austin manual treadmill about 3-5 times a week and walk 4 miles on it. I'm not interested in the bowflex treadmills--I am interested in the bowflex home gym.

    • Yes i believe so... it offers enough weight resistance to give a great workout.. if your using it 4-5 days a week for 40- 60 mins u will see great results and as long as u train each muscle once a week.. or twice a week and eat more protien with your diet... enjoy

  • Avatar Why does my treadmill smell like somethings burning?
    Aug 09, 2010 by | Posted in Other - Home & Garden

I have had this treadmill (bowflex tread climber tc5300) for about 3 years. 1 year in it the belts stopped going up and down so now i have been using as a regular treadmill. recently when i use it there's this smell as if something is burning. does anyone know what might be wrong with it? thanks. *i use it regularly. im not sure what type of maintenance i should do regularly.

    • Probably the belt is dragging on the deck (that flat board under the belt). Lubricate it regularly with spray silicone (available at any auto parts store). The belt tension also needs to be looked at now and then. The rol …osen the belt. If it's too loose, slippage will happen, which makes it jerky to run on, and creates friction which makes the belt hot. Internet search will get you a free owner's manual for about any appliance out there.'

I'm really interested in the Bowflex Treadclimber, but have read different reviews on it saying it breaks down a lot and having to get off it to change your resistence slows your workout down. I'm really interested in this machine, but reluctant to spend SO much money on something that may not be worth it. If anyone can tell me of their experience with the treadclimber, or the treadclimber vs. a treadmill, I'd really appreciate it.

    • Hello, I used to work in the treadmill retail industry. I can personally attest to the frequent breakdowns of the treadmclimbers by any company. Maybe in a few years they'll be better, but for now they have yet to impress me. Second, they just feel so strange when working out on them. Doesn't feel natural at all.
